Voip Phone Service Resources & Information

So your ready to start using VoIP (voice over ip) technology.  Great choice!  Everyone has at least heard of VoIP, but the real question is why would you change out your PSTN (public switched telephone network) and go with a VoIP technology?  Why are so many businesses transferring over to VoIP technology?  Why are millions of everyday households jumping on the VoIP train?

Well the reasons are because of the great value adds that VoIP offers. There are so many advantages that come with VoIP and they are not just a myth, they have been proven.  The first advantage that should jump out at you is the overal cost is so much cheaper.

VoIP takes your voice and carries it over the world wide web. A good example is this. Say you send a email to buddy across the world. Say New York to California. Did that email cost you anything extra? No! VoIP technology works the same way. You will not have to pay outrageous long distance phone bills ever again.

The choice is yours to use VoIP at home or even at your place of business, but the bottom line is the cost is less then the regular phone line.  Not only is your long distance plan pretty much eliminated, but your local phone service is benefited also.  Some VoIP providers even provided combined plans where you unrestricted local calls and unlimited long distance calls.  So when selecting a VoIP provider make sure to research their coverage plans. Plus when using VoIP technology you will not need to add additional phone jack plugs or any additional phone wiring.

The really cool feature of VoIP (besides saving you tons of cash on telephone bills) is that it completely integrates all your phone requirements with your computer!  You can combine your email, faxes, video phone technology, and web seminars saving you tons of time (lots of wasted energy) and headaches.  Being able to access all your applications with a touch of button even makes the average home owner capable of running such a technology.

Voice Over IP News Updates:

Review of Callwithus.com
My youngest son has a new girlfriend and he's on the phone constantly. He knows he can't use his TMobile cell phone because we are on a family plan with limited minutes. We (the rest of my family) don't want him using our main phone (plug for the TMobile @Home phone which works great) and keep it tied up. So I went in search of an inexpensive VOIP provider for a phone of his own, in his room with a PAP2 version 1 I had handy. Callcentric and Voicestick would normally be my first choices but they charge 2 cents/minute and I wanted cheaper. I read in a post somewhere that Callcentric (I already use that in another son's home) and callwithus.com was deleted from some list but the poster claimed both were great. So I decided to check callwithus out and noticed the 1cent/minute plan which is ideal for my girlfriend happy son. Here's my experience. 1. Don't plan for instant service. Plan on 12 hours to be up and running. 2. They don't take credit cards directly. Only Google checkout or PayPal. 3. They use STUN, no big deal for me, and give you their stun address to program into your adapter. 4. They immediately send you a user ID and password and your adapter will register with them BUT IT WON'T WORK!!!!! Until you can login to your account at their web page, using the same user id/password you enter into your adapter, your service is not on even if your adapter registers. They should tell you that. It created some consternation on my part. They do give you 30 cents on your account so you can make 30 minutes worth of calls immediately. 5. DIDs are odd. They have "levels" from 1-9. Lower level numbered DIDs cost around $5 month without free incoming minutes. Level 5 DIDs are cheaper at $3.49/month with 3,000 free incoming minutes. Never seen that before. Outgoing minutes are about 1.2 cents/minute. 6. Using g729, my codec of choice, calls have been reliable, always go through, error free, and call quality is fine. 7. Emails were instant. I had my user name (actually numbers) and password (also numbers) instantly. No problem with that. 8. Again, until you can use your user numbers/password to login to your account, you can only use the 30 minutes they provide you at first. Until your payment posts on your account, which takes a few hours, you can't login on their webpage and you're limited to 30 minutes of service. At this point, 3 days into service with callwithus.com, I'd recommend it not only for kids but for adults too.

[VoicePulse] Has VoicePulse stopped developing new features?
Hello! I've been with VP for 2.5 years or so now and overall, the service is just great. However, there are a few features that I wish they would add/update and I haven't seen anything new added at all during that time (other than the mandated E911, of course). I was curious if anyone knows if they plan to start developing/updating/adding new features sometime in the near future. Any thoughts you might have would be great! I look forward to hearing them. Thanks! Rae
